GNC - Spacecraft GNC Control Engineer

Your mission
Here at The Exploration Company we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit, and which carries cargo – and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a talented Control Engineer to join the GNC team and be responsible of the control subsystem lifecycle: from cradle to grave.

Tasks
In your capacity as Control Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
  • Participate in the design and implementation of the AOCS/GNC subsystem of The Exploration Company’ spacecraft
  • Design, synthesis, test, implementation, verification, and validation of control algorithms
  • Perform control algorithms benchmark and trade-offs
  • Conduct stability and performance assessment including development of linear and non-linear models
  • Develop high fidelity 6 degrees of freedom models and simulations to analyse the system performance
  • AOCS/GNC hardware performance specification
  • AOCS/GNC hardware modelling and simulation
  • Reporting of test results and analysis, with a focus on efficient and automation of documentation
Your profile
What we would love to see from you:
In the role of Control Engineer ideally, you will have the following:
  • MSc. in Aerospace or related engineering discipline. A higher degree is considered advantageous.
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and analysing control subsystems.
  • Experience in robust control and Model Predictive Control (MPC).
  • Strong understanding of classical dynamics, orbital and flight mechanics, modelling and simulation, and software development.
  • Software development experience in C, Python and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Passion for advancing the commercial space industry.
  • Highly motivated to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up environment.
  • Fluent in English. German or French is an asset.
