Avionics and Power - Electrical Engineer, HITL platform

Your mission
Here at the The Exploration Company we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refueled in orbit, and which carries cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Electrical Engineer, HITL platform to help us in our mission by designing, integrating, operating, and maintaining our HITL platform.

In your capacity as a HITL Electrical Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
  • Designing, integrating, operating, and supporting the HITL platform that will be used for the qualification for our 2024 demonstrator including 
    • Design and development of solutions to electrically simulate sensor and actuator components, 
    • Design HITL harnessing and hardware interfaces required to integrate simulated components with flight hardware
    • Design and develop hardware simulators for vehicle components such as batteries, payloads, etc.
  • Supporting the integration of flight avionics hardware, EGSE, operator consoles, and analysis tooling necessary to verify the requirements of avionics units under test and test equipment
  • Running tests on the HITL platform to ensure all the hardware and software components are performing properly
  • Designing and implementing test data post-processing algorithms/scripts.
  • Developing automation tools to streamline and optimize the running of the HITL platform and the test report generation and analysis
  • Upgrading the HITL platform for the next demonstrators/missions 


What we would love to see from you
In the role of HITL Electrical Engineer ideally, you will have the following:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or similar field
  • A good theoretical and/or practical understanding of electronic embedded systems.
  • Exposure to designing and implementing test systems for electronics.
  • Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Python programming experience
  • Linux
  • Previous HIL experience
  • Experience with spacecraft flight hardware handling
  • Harness design and fabrication
